When you are shopping for a black desk there are so many options available to you.  Black office furniture is trendy at the moment and most major brands carry at least one line in black.  If you are looking for a black desk you might want to consider the various styles available to you.

  • Black office desk
  • Black executive desk
  • Black computer desk
  • Black computer desk with hutch
  • Black corner desk
  • Black writing table
  • Black wood desk
  • Distressed black desk

A simple black office desk often has a slim upper center drawer and perhaps a row of drawers on the left or right to house files and other materials.  If you have space constraints this type of desk is ideal, however if you need something a bit more elegant you might want to purchase a black executive desk.  Black is not only fashionable at the moment but is complimentary to a multitude of styles and colors.  Quite often it is possible to add a black desk without needing to redecorate the entire office.  This is particularly the case when some of the furniture in the room is metal or glass or a combination of the two.  A fashionable black desk would serve to bring the look together.

A black computer desk also blends well with various décors and can either be a simple desk with a coordinating black and metal chair or can be a black computer desk with hutch if there is a need to have files and resource materials readily at hand.  If more than one person will be using the computer a desk with a hutch might serve to facilitate areas for each person to house their personal work for later use.

When space is limited or where several people share an office a black corner desk can be a real plus.  The desk can be tucked away in a corner providing ample work space but will not interfere with the flow of “traffic” throughout the room.  This is ideal for offices that employ assistants and temporary help.  If space is extremely limited you may want to consider a simple black writing table.  Some of these tables have fold-up legs and can be stored away when not in use.  Many tax accountants use this type of office desk during high volume tax season to accommodate seasonal temporary assistants.  If the accountant has a black executive desk then using a black writing table would coordinate well.

For those of you who would like a more traditional look in black you might consider a black wood desk which also lends itself to a currently trendy distressed, antiqued style.  A black distressed desk is most easily accomplished when it is manufactured from wood.  If you have an old desk that you would like to refinish you can learn distressing techniques online or you can purchase a how-to manual either online or at your local home improvement store.  Distressed black desks are elegant and classy and can add old world charm to offices located in older buildings.

Once you have an idea of what kind of desk you are looking for it should be easy to find the perfect black desk for your office.

Things to Consider When Shopping for a Black Desk

If you are looking for a black desk for your office you are not limited to a simple black executive desk.  In recent years black office furniture has become quite fashionable and there are so many choices that choosing the right black desk might take a bit of shopping around.  Once you have determined what your area constraints are and whether or not there is a need to match other furniture you can begin looking around.  Perhaps you are interested in totally redecorating your office, whether it is at home or your place of employment.  If this is the case it might be advisable to consider purchasing more than a single black desk.  You may need to update your computer area, your waiting area and even your secretary’s space to complete the new décor.

More and more often a bulk of our work is accomplished on a computer.  Unless you are in a profession like the medical or legal field you may see a minimal amount of people in your office.  It may be in your best interest to begin by looking for a black computer desk.  If you are looking for moderately priced office furniture you might want to look at pieces by Sauder.  Whether you shop online or locally, office supply stores like Office Depot carry the Sauder Edge Water Black Computer Desk.  It is reasonably priced but will require assembly.  Don’t worry, they are easy to assemble and detailed instructions are included.  You may also want to consider a Cambridge Black Computer Desk which is in stock at Wal-mart stores and online as well.  If you need areas to keep books, papers and other materials, you can also use a black computer desk with hutch.  The shelves and compartments provide ample space to house work materials within easy reach.

Some people consider black to be too plain and simple for their tastes yet still need to go with black for decorating purposes.  At times like this a black distressed desk is ideal.  You can either refinish a desk you already own with distressing techniques or you can purchase one already finished to have a “weathered” and worn look.  I always find humor in the fact that people are willing to spend a lot of money on a new black desk that looks like it is old.  I guess this would be suitable if you have antiques in your office and you want to maintain the ambiance.  And then again, maybe black is just too, well for lack of a better word, black!  Add texture and definition with a distressed black desk.

While black is not suitable for all offices it is certainly fashionable at the moment and there are a multitude of options available if you are looking for a black desk.  You can go large or small, simple or elegant, generic and reasonable or high end and costly.  It is simply a matter of preference, budget and availability of space.  With so much to choose from you should have no problems finding a black desk to suit your needs.

At the moment it appears that black desks are trendy and there is a wide assortment of styles available at any furniture retailer or wholesaler.  A quick search online would yield a multitude of manufacturers and stores who carry black desk furniture to serve any purpose and to compliment almost any décor.  Prices range from inexpensive to more costly, upper-end lines and complimentary furniture in black is also available.

While it would seem to be logical that a black desk is constructed primarily from metal this is not necessarily the case.  There is a huge assortment available of black desks constructed from wood and pvc as well, or a combination of any or all of the above.  Take for example a computer desk and hutch.  While the desk and the hutch might be fashioned from wood, the keyboard tray and desktop may very well be metal or pvc.  The same might hold true for a writing desks or a black corner desk.  Often the use of distressed wood adds touch of elegance.

The combination of metal and pvc lends itself readily to desks, such as computer desks, that need to be light weight to facilitate being moved from time to time.  Black printer tables are also available and computer desk chairs in black can be found to complete the package.  Many black computer desks and printer tables are on casters for easy mobility.

Office desks are also offered in a wide variety of styles.  You can find a simple black desk or two drawer models, while there are also corner models with or without a hutch.  Here again, these desks can be manufactured from a combination of materials.  Complimentary or coordinating pieces are also available such as filing cabinets, shelves, and end and corner tables.

A black desk also lends itself well to a retro décor where black and white are used in combination for that ‘50’s look.  Add a touch of metal and red and the picture will be complete!

Quite often it is wise to choose a black desk for use in a home office or family room because it blends so well with any color scheme or style.  It is much easier to blend a a black desk into a room than trying to match an exact shade of say oak or cherry.  Whether you are looking for a simple, inexpensive desk or a trendy, high-end piece of furniture one thing is for certain.  You can’t go wrong with a black desk.
